Although many prosumer cameras or mirrorless camera that has had a variety of advanced features as the Digital SLR cameras, but still want to try the beginner DSLR cameras and they are stuck in between the major brands, Nikon and Canon. Actually, you can choose other brands such as Pentax cameras, the Sony Alpha DSLR camera or even manufactured by Sigma and Leica.

Why you should choose a Nikon or Canon?

Well, because Nikon and Canon had a major influence on the novice and professional photographer, so on this occasion we started it compares fairly new camera, the Canon EOS 700D and Nikon D5300.

Nikon D5300 is an upper entry-level DSLR aimed at photographers looking for a step-up from a budget model without the expense, size and complexity of a higher-end model. This camera comes just less than a year after the D5200, but Nikon makes some important upgrades including becoming the first Nikon DSLR with built-in wireless.

Nikon D5300 features bigger sensor plus more resolution compared to Canon EOS 700D. When compared with its predecessor, the D5300 showed similar results in terms of dynamic range and color depth with a slightly increased ISO sensitivity.

Compared toits direct competitors, the Canon EOS 700D and Sony SLT Alpha 58, test results indicate that Nikon D5300 is 1/3 stop better than EOS 700D when it comes to image quality. Nikon D5300 features 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor, using the same sensor as Nikon D7100 many people said that the image quality of Nikon D7100 is better compared to Canon 700D. The Canon EOS 700D or called Rebel T5i replaces the Canon EOS 650D / T4i, but is almost indistinguishable from it in terms of design, operation and specification.

Canon 700D produce detailed images with low-noise 18 megapixel sensor, that can be printed at high resolution and cropped without losing quality. You can capture Full-HD movies with creative control and Hybrid CMOS AF that focuses continuously as you shoot, so you can use Canon 700D to create high quality video clip or movie.

Canon EOS 700D key features:

This, plus the slightly enlarged (3.2in compared to 3in) fully-articulated 1.04 million-dot LCD screen should mean that the D5300 is attractive to videographers as well as stills photographers. Nikon D5300 also equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and GPS - both firsts for Nikon DSLR lineup. You will love the Wi-Fi connectivities because make you easy to share your photos to other device.

The Nikon D5300 is rather smaller than the Canon EOS 700D/T5i (the larger kit zoom mounted on the Nikon in this shot makes that a little hard to appreciate) but has a slightly more substantial hand-grip which contributes greatly to its feeling of solidity in the hand.

Generally,  Nikon D5300 makes fantastic quality images and weighs almost nothing, so it's a pleasure to carry it everywhere. Compared to the pro cameras I often haul, the D5300 feels as if it's hollow, which is a very good thing. Canon EOS 700D also can create great pictures and easy to carry anywhere such as for holiday in Bali and other unforgetable moment such as wedding party, family reunion, birthday party, adventure and other social or business activities. If you are fond of retro camera, then you need to see a Japanese camera, made by Fujifilm, namely Fuji X100S. This camera does seem old-fashioned, but in this camera you will get advanced technology from Fujifilm.

The design of the Fuji X100S is barely different from its predecessor, the Fuji X100. At this new camera you do not find shooting mode regulator at the top like a DSLR camera in general. Instead there is a shutter speed setting knob (shutter speed) and exposure compensation. Fuji seemed to signal that X100S is not designed for photographers who rely on automatic shooting modes. You do not need to worry because you will be familiar with this design.

The camera body is very strong because it is made with the magnesium material on the top and polyurethane on the bottom. When holding this camera, Fuji X100S really feels luxurious and expensive, which is comparable to the price premium. Besides luxury, the ergonomic factor of this camera is quite well with a fairly comfortable grip. The placement of the keys is quite fitting and easy to reach, even when peering through the viewfinder innovative. Fuji includes a button with label Q which can bring some basic functions of the camera can be set, such as ISO settings, white balance, timer, image resolution, and so on. So is no need to venture too deep into the layered menu.

Fantastic feature

Fujifilm X100S equipped with the APS-C X-Trans CMOS II 16 megapixels, lens 23mm f / 2 (same as X100) and EXR processor II is proven to produce very good photos, even a little nicer in the APS-C DSLR camera class beginner and intermediate. Exposure and accurate white balance in various lighting conditions, assisted with the film simulation option that determines the color eventually, guaranteed to make you be amazed to see the picture. This camera already proved very sharp lens at all aperture settings. Macro performance is also very good, as long as you use a smaller aperture of f/2.8 (f / 4 down). But the most amazing is the images in high ISO settings. I am confident enough to use an ISO setting of 3200 and 6400 were fairly clean. Even the results (JPEG format) are cleaner than middle-class DSLR cameras such as the famous Canon EOS 7D, and Nikon D7000.

There are some pretty useful shooting features, such as AE / ISO / Film Simulation / DR (Dynamic Range) bracketing, and Motion Panorama. With this feature, you can generate the desired photos directly on the camera. Motion Panorama feature is useful to create extra wide image automatically, by shifting the camera that will connect some photos. Its use is quite easy with the good results, except in the room and dim light conditions. This Feature is suitable for making panoramic landscape photos. You can also use Fujifilm X100S to make video clips with the great results, but you need to practice using the video feature so that you are accustomed to, so you will smoothly when making movies.

Are you interested in this camera? Before you decide to buy Fujifilm X100S, perhaps you need to compare with retro cameras from other brands such as: Nikon COOLPIX A and Sigma DP3 Merrill. Do get confused, you'll know if you've been holding all these cameras with your own hands.

However, DSLR cameras have always been the largest selection of starters and photography enthusiast, the reason for the purpose of photography is more serious and professional.

When you buy a DSLR camera (Digital Single Lens Reflect), then it should be considered with jelly, especially for beginners who have a limited budget. If you are a beginner, but very keen to pursue the hobby of photography, then there are some tips you need to understand it so that you get the right camera and fun.

1. Determine the needs and budgets
Buying a DSLR camera as needed is a wise thing. Do not force yourself to buy an advanced camera features, but we do not need those features for everyday use. For beginners it is advisable to choose a camera with a model of affordable, or in accordance with the budget that you have today. It is more discreet, so you can buy other lenses such as tripod, wide-angle lenses, zoom lenses or other lenses in the future.
Image: four-thirds.org

2. Sensor size
If you are going to buy a camera, then note the size of the sensor used to capture the image. Although many variations of size, are generally divided into three categories, namely Full Frame, APS-C and Micro Four-Thirds (MFT).

Full frame DSLR cameras are all digital SLR cameras that use the same size sensor with analog film size. So what is seen in the viewfinder so that the picture, without being reduced. APS-C sensor cameras have a smaller sensor size, so there is a missing part of a photo or crop. The advantage of APS-C sensor is the price to be cheaper and lighter body. The third type of sensor is a camera with Micro Four-Thirds sensor. Micro Four Third cameras is now the trend and in demand as an additional camera or as a companion to a DSLR camera. MT camera has a sensor size smaller than the APS-C, so that the body becomes smaller MFT cameras anyway, and certainly lighter and easier to carry anywhere without much reducing the quality of images produced.

Examples of full frame cameras: Canon 5D Mark III, Nikon D600, Nikon D700, Nikon D800, Nikon D4, Pentax K-30, Olympus E620 or Sony A99.

Examples of camera APS-C crop sensor: Canon 600D/650D/60D/7D, Nikon D3100/D5200/D90/D7000, Sony A390, Sony SLT A37/A57.

Examples of Micro Four-Thirds cameras: Fuji XE-1, Nikon J1/V1 series, Olympus EPL / EPM / EP series, Canon EOS-M, Panasonic GF series, Samsung NX series or Sony NEX series.

3.  Megapixel
If planning to print the photos in large size, you should buy a camera with a resolution so that the images can also be printed as desired maximum. You can buy a new digital camera with more than 22 mega pixels. Do you really need this?

As an illustration, 4 MP resolution cameras can produce good print size 10R (like the size of a magazine cover). If you just want the photos to be shared on the Internet or social media, it is not too big Megapixel needed. Of course, you should buy a camera with a resolution of at least 10 or 12 Megapixel. Now you can get a Canon or Nikon DSLR camera with a standard 18 megapixel camera with an affordable price, such as the Canon EOS 600D and Nikon D5100. Both cameras have advanced features.

4. Speed
DSLR cameras have better speed than expensive pocket camera. Speed is often necessary when photographing a moving object such as a car that was speeding or watching a music concert.

5. ISO
Other feature of DSLR cameras that may need attention is the ISO setting for shooting in the dark. ISO is concerned with the sensitivity of the camera's sensor to light. The greater the value of the setting, the more sensitive the camera and the light are obtained.

6. Image Stabilization / Anti Vibration
Another thing to note that choosing a DSLR camera is Anti shake systems. Because pictures taken in poor lighting or retrieved remotely are prone to opaque (blur) due to hand movement or unintentional camera. Image Stabilization is designed to avoid this.

7. Size and Model
Size DSLR camera is big and not like a regular digital camera. But there are also some DSLR cameras are lightweight and can be taken anywhere on the go. Even as reviewed above, the type Four-Thirds camera is comfortable to carry anywhere with a small form. You also can create fantastic picture with MFT camera.

Again, whatever camera you choose, make sure you adjust your budget, your needs and your readiness to add accessories in the future. If you are serious, then you can become a professional photographer, you can even become rich from the hobby of photography.
